Michael Sheridan, CFA is a seasoned equity portfolio manager with a strong track record of alpha generation in long-only and long/short portfolios. Most recently with Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) as Deputy Head of U.S. Equities, Mr. Sheridan�s portfolio contributions achieved an average return of +52% based on his proprietary value-based process focusing on the Materials, Industrials, Consumer Staples & Discretionary, Media, and Semiconductors sectors. At ADIA, he managed a team of 12 analysts with long-only assets under management (AUM) of $2.3B. Prior to ADIA, Michael held senior roles at various hedge funds and asset managers including Longbow Capital Partners where he was a Senior Analyst for a $450M long/short equity fund (avg. return of +29%) specializing in Materials & Industrials and Cantor Fitzgerald where he served as a Managing Director, Materials & Industrials Research, identifying mis-valued equities for long and short recommendations (avg. return of +21%).
In addition, Mr. Sheridan was a Director at McKay Shields where he ran a $1.8B MidCap Value fund (which posted 2nd percentile alpha, 99th percentile beta and a 2nd percentile information ratio) during his 7-year tenure. At the same time Sheridan served as a Senior Manager of Large Cap value portfolios ($4B AUM), which achieved + 180 bp annual alpha over the same period. Michael began his career as a broker at Merrill Lynch.
He received a B.A. in English from Union College in Schenectady, NY and is also a CFA charterholder.
