Joe Kogan is Head of Emerging Markets Strategy at Scotia Capital in New York.   From 2004 to 2009, he was a senior strategist for emerging markets at Barclays Capital and at Lehman Brothers.  Prior to that, he was a professor at Universidad Católica in Santiago, Chile, where he taught MBA classes and conducted research on business strategy in developing countries. 

Joe received a Ph.D. in business-economics from Harvard University, an M.A. in economics from Harvard University, and a B.A. in economics and mathematics from Princeton University.  Joe’s dissertation at Harvard won the 2002 prize for best dissertation in international business awarded by the Stockholm School of Economics.  His research has appeared in top academic journals such as The Review of Economics and Statistics and Journal of International Business Studies.  Joe was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and currently lives in Manhattan.
